Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how TrufflePops (“TrufflePops”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the TrufflePops mobile app, websites, and related services (together, the “Service”). We keep it simple: we collect as little as we can, we use it only to run the Service for you, and we never sell it.

1. Information you give us

When you create an account, we collect your email address and basic profile details. When you use TrufflePops, we store the content you add — the goals, habits, check-ins, streaks, notes, and companion choices that make the Service work for you (“Your Content”).

2. Information we collect automatically

To keep the Service reliable and improve it, we collect limited technical data such as device type, app version, and basic usage and diagnostic information (for example, crash reports). Where required, we ask for your consent before collecting anything beyond what is strictly necessary to operate the Service.

3. Cookies and analytics

On our website we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC (“Google”), to understand how the site is used so we can improve it — for example, which pages people visit and how they find us. To do this, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (such as _ga and _ga_*) and collects information including your approximate location (derived from a truncated IP address), device and browser type, and the pages you view.

We only load these analytics cookies with your consent. When you first visit, analytics is switched off by default and we ask you to accept or decline through our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data that identifies your browser is collected. You can change your mind at any time by clearing the site’s cookies and storage in your browser, which makes the banner appear again.

Where you consent, the information collected is shared with Google as an independent recipient and may be processed on servers in the United States and other countries. We do not enable Google Analytics advertising features, Google Signals, or data sharing for Google’s own advertising purposes. To learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see Google’s Privacy Policy.

In the mobile app, we use PostHog, a product-analytics service, to understand how the app is used so we can improve it (for example, which features people use and where they get stuck). We collect in-app interaction events and the screens you view, and for signed-in users an account identifier, so we can measure things like activation and retention. We do not use this data for advertising, we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we never sell it. Analytics is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in the app under Profile, then Preferences, then “Share usage analytics”. If you explore as a guest, you are not identified. PostHog processes this data on our behalf on servers in the United States; see PostHog’s Privacy Policy for details.

4. Location information

TrufflePops includes an optional “Daylight” appearance that switches the app between its light and dark themes at your local sunrise and sunset. If — and only if — you turn this on, we ask your device for its approximate location and use it to calculate those sunrise and sunset times. This happens entirely on your device: your location is used only for that calculation and is never sent to our servers, stored by us, or shared with anyone. We request location permission only when you enable Daylight, and you can revoke it at any time in your device settings or by choosing a different appearance.

5. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • provide, maintain, and secure the Service;
  • save your progress and sync it across your devices and the people you choose to share goals with;
  • respond to your messages and provide customer support;
  • understand how the Service is used so we can fix issues and make it better;
  • meet our legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.

6. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the Service — such as hosting providers, our product-analytics provider PostHog, and, where you consent, Google Analytics (see section 3) — bound by contracts or terms that limit how they may use it; with other users when you choose to share a goal with them; and where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of TrufflePops and its users.

7. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep it to comply with the law or resolve disputes.

8. Security

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly if something goes wrong.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can manage much of your data directly in the app, and you can contact us at any time to exercise your rights. We will not discriminate against you for doing so.

10. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

11. International transfers

We may process and store your information in countries other than your own — including the United States, where some of our service providers (such as Google and PostHog, for the analytics described in section 3) operate. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this Policy and applicable law.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll take reasonable steps to let you know, such as by updating the date above or notifying you in the app. By continuing to use the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated Policy.
